Vionnet celebrates their 100th Anniversary with a collection of 20 demi-couture gowns inspired by house founder, Madame Vionnet.
I remember learning about Vionnet at FIT and falling in love, ever so gently, with her unique, ground-breaking method of draping clothing on the bias. Madame Vionnet is known as Queen of The Bias Cut. Her grecian gowns were the start of making clothing that floated on to a woman's body, fitting ever so perfectly.
For this collection, the signature method is re-worked, along with the classic straight grain. Combined with flawless workmanship and luxurious fabric, the result is a collection of luxury eveningwear that calls to the woman who appreciates the finer things in life. The silhouettes are clean. The draping, effortless. Each piece is a work of art, as fashion should be.
