I've been experimenting with Zero Waste designing and it's been a real challenge but incredibly exciting. I like the restriction of not wasting anything and it actually fuels my creativity, strangely enough.
I made the dress below and am using the extra fabric as a headband. The only extra fabric was from the curve of the neckline. Everything else is a near perfect rectangle.
The feedback for this dress has been really great and this makes me confident that people can see the design and beauty of clothing before I tell them that I was trying to use up all the fabric. At the end of the day, people are going to buy clothing because it's beautiful. If it's ugly, it could be doing wonderful things for the environment, no-one will touch it.
Hope you like this one!
